Book Birthday Week for THE GRIMOIRE OF AGATHA HARKNESS and I CAN MAKE A MOVIE!

Hello folks! Just an update that this month two books by my clients entered the world!

First, we have the licensed book THE GRIMOIRE OF AGATHA HARKNESS from Insight Editions, which my client Danny Lore wrote in partnership with Andrea Hannah – a beautiful mishmash of Marvel lore surrounding Agatha Harkness along with tarot and magics from the viewpoint of Agatha herself. The book was release on November 11, 2025, and you can purchase your own copy here or wherever books are sold!

Agatha Harkness shares her own spellbook, compiled over decades, to take readers on a journey through the supernatural world of Marvel, featuring history, spells, potions, and more! Narrated by the witch herself, Agatha has created this grimoire to teach budding witches how to harness their gifts—but as readers progress, Agatha’s words of wisdom continue down a darker path …

With excerpts from other magical Marvel books—including the Darkhold—and notes from other magically powered characters like Doctor Strange and the Scarlet Witch, this book is at once a unique foray into the mystical mind of Agatha Harkness and an exploration of Marvel magic, making it the perfect guide for fans everywhere.

And I’m VERY excited to share the picture book I CAN MAKE A MOVIE! by Morgan Stevenson Cooper and my client Geneva Bowers. This deal was struck before I was representing Geneva, but I just want to highlight it for you all because it’s a wonderful book, also released November 11, 2025, that you can purchase here or, again, wherever books are sold!

From self-taught, award-winning director Morgan Stevenson Cooper comes a heartfelt picture book about a girl on a mission to make her first movieand lift her grandpa’s spirits along the way.

Norah Rose loves movies—action, comedy, drama—you name it! She dreams of becoming a director, but Hollywood feels a long way from home. When her grandpa falls ill, Norah decides to make a movie just for him, because no one loves a good story more than Grandpa. Equipped with her mom’s phone, a head full of ideas, and the wide-open backdrop of Kansas City, Norah sets out to write, cast, shoot, and edit her very first film. There’s a lot of work ahead, but Norah’s sure of one thing: her movie is going to shine.

With a spirited how-to approach and lively artwork by Geneva Bowers, Morgan Stevenson Cooper shows young readers how creativity, heart, and a little hustle can turn any dream into a reality.

September 2025 update: MONSTER BLOOD book birthday & CORPSE DE BALLET cover reveal

Hello, hello! Book news from the past month, interestingly for books I worked on with two former clients (publishing is so long)!

I’m so delighted that MONSTER BLOOD (Goosebumps Graphic Novel #2) by RL Stine, adapted and illustrated by Maddi Gonzalez with colors by Wes Dzioba was published by Scholastic September 2, 2025! You can pick up a copy at your local bookstore, www.bookshop.org, the Scholastic website linked above, or anywhere else really, and of course, you can purchase the first installment THE HAUNTED MASK by RL Stine, also adapted and illustrated by Maddi Gonzalez, with colors by Corey Barba and Amanda Barba.

MONSTER BLOOD is a Junior Library Guild selection and a wonderfully scary continuation in the series. Perfect for your local Halloweenies, especially if they’re aged 8-12!

And in another creepy turn, First Second revealed the cover for Megan Kearney’s YA graphic novel CORPSE DE BALLET. I love this book so much, and I’m so excited folks can finally see it. Megan’s done such a lovely job. You can pre-order from the link above (or again, from anywhere), and the book can be yours July 7, 2026!

In her solo graphic novel debut, Megan Kearney weaves a fresh tale of dark academia and brutal competition. This psychological thriller is perfect for fans of Black Swan!

Arriving at Saint Anselmus in the middle of the year, Rosamund Hammond is ready to practice hard and prove she deserves to be there. But something at this boarding school doesn’t feel right.

It turns out that just before Rosamund enrolled, a student disappeared without telling anyone. Was it really a leave of absence—or something more sinister? Together with her new roommate, Rosamund spirals deeper and deeper into an obsession with the truth. As the school prepares for its showcase performance of Coppélia, can she commit to her hard-earned ballet dreams while solving the mystery that’s haunting her—or will she lose herself in the process?

Robert Benjamin Irwin loves to learn and explore. But when he’s five, his eyes grow red and painful from fever, and he loses his sight. Since he can no longer see, Robert focuses instead on what he can do: discovering new ways to learn and experience the world through sound.

As he grows up, Robert learns to read books written in Braille, a system of raised dots that can be read with fingers. But as much as he loves stories, he finds finger-reading Braille slow and difficult. He wishes he could listen to a story like he listens to the birds. So, with a team of audio engineers, Robert sets out to make it happen—and revolutionizes reading for people around the world.

Happy Book Birthday to SONG OF THE LIONESS BOOK 1: ALANNA!

I’m SO excited to share with you Book 1 of Tamora Pierce’s THE LIONESS QUARTET beautifully adapted into a novel a graphic novel by Vita Ayala and Sam Beck!

In Song of the Lioness, Book 1: Alanna, the first of four volumes adapting #1 New York Times bestseller Tamora Pierce’s Song of the Lioness quartet, we meet Alanna of Trebond, a young noblewoman from the kingdom of Tortall.

Alanna isn’t like other girls from noble families—what she really wants is to become a knight and earn her shield, something women definitely aren’t allowed to do.

But Alanna will not be deterred, and she arrives in the capital disguised as a boy to begin training as a page, the first step toward becoming a knight. Despite the tough conditions and grueling work, Alanna’s skills and stubbornness win her friends amongst the nobility and the denizens of the lower city. But not everyone wishes her well . . .

Filled with magic and mayhem, adventure and action, swords and spells, book one in the Song of the Lioness quartet is the ultimate introduction to Alanna and Tamora Pierce’s legendary Tortall universe.

Book Announcement: MORSEL!

Hey everybody, just letting you all know about MORSEL by Carter Keane, which was announced today, along with a cover reveal (art by Emerald Barkley, design by Jess Kiley)! Click the link to preorder 🙂

The Blair Witch Project meets The Ritual, with a generous helping of The Menu, in Morsel, a delicious folk horror tale perfect for fans of T. Kingfisher, Cassandra Khaw, and Paul Tremblay.

Lou did what the children of parents with back-breaking, poor paying jobs are supposed to do: pulled up her bootstraps, went to college, and got an office job with coworkers who won’t stop talking about their multi-level marketing scheme disguised as self-betterment.

Determined to lift her ill mother out of poverty before it’s too late, and in the spirit of climbing the corporate ladder, Lou accepts an assignment in the rural hills of Ohio. She quickly finds herself stranded in the middle of nowhere with a sabotaged truck, a dog she’s determined to keep safe, and something stalking her through the ancient Appalachian woods.

If she can’t escape the woods in time, she’ll come face to face with the fact that her job isn’t the only thing that wants to eat her alive.

Morsel is a chilling testament to the burden of generational poverty and the all-consuming nature of capitalism, where the monster and the monstrous, in the end, are not the same.

Book Announcement: TOO HOT TO TANGO!

Hello hello! First book announcement of the year! This graphic novel from Abrams Fanfare is currently being drawn, for a 2026 publication date, and I couldn’t be more excited!

Image transcription: “Charlotte Greenbaum at Abrams Fanfare has acquired TOO HOT TO TANGO by E.E. Salo (l.) and Megan Kearney. Pitched as “Dirty dancing but gay,” the YA graphic novel follows Honey, sports camp counselor and soccer star, as she gets roped into being arts camp rival Teddi’s competitive dance partner. The only problem is Honey can’t dance, and she just may be falling head over heels for Teddi. Publication is slated for fall 2026; Susan Graham while at Einstein Literary handled the deal for world rights.” + photos of the creators

HAPPY BOOK BIRTHDAY TO BEETLE AND THE CHIMERA CARNIVAL!

Hi everyone! The long awaited sequel to Stonewall Honor Book BEETLE AND THE HOLLOWBONES came into the world on Tuesday. I’m so excited for everyone to read BEETLE AND THE CHIMERA CARNIVAL by Aliza Layne! Aliza’s truly outdone herself in this one.

Hidden behind the clouds, giant dragons guard the most powerful magic in the world from prying eyes. On one magical night, once every ten years, these leviathans reveal themselves to a fanfare of costumes, music, and parades in the Chimera Carnival.

But this time, something’s wrong.

When Beetle, Penny, and Kat decide to check out the empty carnival site one night, they discover an injured dragon screaming for help. And the more Beetle uncovers about the Chimera Carnival, the more sinister it gets. Dragons who arrive for the early festivities disappear without a trace. Beetle’s magic begins to go haywire. And Kat’s parents come back to town, worrying both girls about whether they have a future together.

In the catacombs beneath the demolished ’Allowstown mall, something hungers for dragon magic. And Beetle and her friends are already more entwined with it than they could possibly imagine.
